LiDAR only models in the editor

Paint over a LiDAR only model to remove trees and cars, smooth roofs and walls, and fix spikes.

A LiDAR only model is one surface, so single buildings can't be selected in it. Instead, the editor has surface brushes. Pick one from the toolbar and drag over the model to paint.

Remove (R)
Takes things down to the ground the survey found under them. Choose All, Trees, Small (under 3 m, like cars and fences), or Spikes (poles, masts, and cranes).
Patch (H)
Fills in a spike, a hole, or a rough patch from the surface around it.
Smooth (S)
Evens out rough roofs and bumps while keeping walls upright. Set it to Walls to smooth ribbed or jagged building sides instead.
Flatten (E)
Levels to the height where the stroke starts, so start the stroke on the height to flatten to.
Raise or lower (U)
Moves the surface up or down, most in the middle of the brush.
Restore (O)
Paints the surface back the way it was generated. Set Restore to to Before smoothing to also take out the smoothing generating does to sloped roofs, domes, and lattices like the Eiffel Tower's legs, where the smoothing took away something that's really there.

Painting

Removing a boat, dock, or bridge from the water leaves water in its place. Ground lowered below the water beside it turns to water too.

Missing tall buildings

A survey can be older than a new tower. When the map has a building much taller than the survey does, the model warns about it and offers Add it from the map:

  1. Press Add it from the map under the warning, or in the editor's card.
  2. Check the orange outlines, which show where each building would stand. Untick any that land on the wrong block.
  3. Press the button that adds them, which says how many, like Add 3 buildings. Each is added as a shape that can be moved, resized, or deleted.

Shapes on a LiDAR only model

Text, pins, boxes, cylinders, sports fields, drawn roads, and outlines work here too. An outline, box, or cylinder can Remove what's under it to stand on the bare ground, and a drawn road can sit on top of everything or on the ground, like a route. A sports field put on a stadium's floor lines up with it.

Strokes are placed on the map and sized in meters, so they don't move when the scale or detail changes and the model is generated again. The limit is 1,000 strokes in all, counting the ones on other areas.

To remove every tree or car in the model, set Trees or Cars and clutter under Model settings and generate again, instead of painting.
