Water on its own plates

Print the water apart, so the model needs one color fewer.

Print water on its own plates, under Water in Layers, prints the water apart from the rest of the model. All the water is cut through the base, and each plate of the model with water in it gets a water plate: a thin sheet in the water color, the size of that plate. The model sits on the sheet, which shows at the bottom of the water's openings, as in a frame with a sheet of water color under the map.

The model then prints with one color fewer, and the water plates print in the water color alone, with no prime tower. With the default five colors, the model fits one AMS.

In the 3D view, Water plate lifts the model off its water plates to show them, and pressing it again sets it back down. With Multi-plate export, the sheets are under the sections with water, as the download has them.

  1. Turn on Print water on its own plates under Water and generate the model again.
  2. Download. A Bambu Studio project has the water plates after the model's, each named after the plate it goes under, like Water 3 (R1 C3). PrusaSlicer and STL downloads have them as files of their own.
  3. Print the model's plates, then the water plates in the water color.
  4. Set each plate of the model on its water plate, edges lined up. A frame holds them together, or a little glue.
Water plate style
Flat sheet (the default) is the sheet alone, so the water is as deep in its openings as the model is thick there, and the 3D view shows it that way. Islands and land a river cuts off are loose pieces, set in place by eye, which a frame holds. Water raised on the sheet stands the water on the sheet up to its own level, just below its banks, a little narrower than its openings. The water then fits its openings one way only, which lines the model up and holds islands and land a river cuts off in their places.
Sheet thickness
How thick the sheet is, 0.4 mm by default. It comes out of Base thickness under Model, which is kept at least 0.6 mm thicker than the sheet, and made thicker if it isn't.
Clearance
For Water raised on the sheet: how much narrower the water on the sheet is than its openings, 0.15 mm on each side by default. Raise it if the model doesn't sit flat on the sheet, or lower it for a tighter fit.

A plate without water keeps its whole base and has no water plate, and one that's all water prints in the water color as it is. Water in a custom color prints with the model in its color, not on a water plate. Rest on the water under Structures in water isn't available, since nothing can rest on water printed apart. A single STL and a .glb keep the water in place.
