Size and scale

Set how big the model prints, and make it fit the printer.

The scale says how many printed millimeters one meter on the ground becomes. The default, 0.07 mm per meter (1:14,286), prints a 2 km wide area 140 mm wide. At that scale a street is about as wide as the narrowest line a 0.4 mm nozzle prints well.

Locks

Size has a lock button beside the printed size and one beside the scale. One of them is always locked, and it decides what stays the same when the other changes:

Scale locked (the default)
Resizing the box on the map changes the printed size. A new scale changes the printed size too.
Printed size locked
The model keeps its size on the bed. Resizing the box changes the scale, and a new scale resizes the box on the map.

Click either lock to switch which one is locked. The label under the box on the map shows a small lock on whichever is fixed.

Set the size or the scale

Fit the printer

Pick the Printer. The card under it shows the model's size, the bed size, and the largest model that fits, and says whether it fits.

Press Fit the bed, which names the printer, like Fit the P1S bed, to make the model as large as fits on one plate. With the scale locked, the box on the map grows or shrinks to match. With the printed size locked, the scale changes instead.

With more than one filament, it leaves room for the prime tower, the small block a multicolor print uses to clean the nozzle between colors.

A model too big for the bed can be split into sections, each on its own plate. See Large models on several plates.

The Size header shows a small orange dot when the model doesn't fit: larger than the bed, taller than the printer builds, or too small to print.

Roads are kept at least 0.45 mm wide so they print, so at small scales they can cover the blocks between them. For a big area, leave out the smaller kinds of road under Types and own colors.
