Large models on several plates
Split a model too big for the printer into sections that fit together.
When a model is larger than the bed, Size says so and offers to split it. Each section prints on its own plate, and the printed pieces fit together.
- Pick the Printer under Size.
- Turn on Multi-plate export under Export, or press Turn on multi-plate export in the Size card.
- Leave Section size at Fit the bed for the fewest sections, or pick Custom size to set the largest a section can be. Section size is under Multi-plate export, and the Export link in the Size card goes there.
- Download. The Size card says how many sections and files the download has.
Plates and files
- Plates are named like Plate 3 (R1 C3). R is the row, counted from the back, and C is the column, counted from the left.
- A Bambu Studio project holds up to 36 plates. With more, the download is a .zip of several projects, with a map of where each plate goes.
- PrusaSlicer gets one file per section, in a .zip with the same map.
- STL downloads of sections include the map too. A .glb is always the whole model in one piece.
With Fit the bed, each section leaves room for the prime tower. The sections are cut along straight lines, so a building on a cut is split between two plates and lines up again once the pieces are put together.
Up to 400 sections are possible. For a very large print, a smaller scale needs far fewer plates.
