Help / Download and print
Download for a slicer
Pick a file format, download the model, and open it in a slicer.
Pick a format under Export, then press the download button beside Generate again. It names the file type, like Download .3mf. Nothing under Export needs the model generated again.
- Bambu Studio project (.3mf)
- Recommended for Bambu Lab printers, and only offered for them. Plates, part names, and a filament per color, ready to slice. It opens in OrcaSlicer too.
- PrusaSlicer project (.3mf)
- One object with a part per color, each on its own extruder.
- 3MF with colors (other slicers)
- A standard 3MF file with the color stored on each part.
- STL, one file per color (.zip)
- Works in any slicer. Load all the files together as one object.
- Single STL
- Everything in one file, for printing in one color.
- glTF for Blender (.glb)
- For rendering, not printing. Each part is an object with its color as a material.
Open it in Bambu Studio
- Open the file in Bambu Studio 2.0 or newer with File > Open Project, not Import. Older versions open it with every part on the first filament.
- Check that each color is mapped to the right filament and AMS slot.
- Pick the actual filaments, then press Purging volumes and Re-calculate. On a printer with one nozzle the file opens with a flat 280 mm³ for every color change, which is too little after a dark color. On an H2D, H2C, or X2D it comes with them worked out from its colors for both nozzles.
- Slice, and check the preview before printing.
Other slicers
- OrcaSlicer with a Bambu Lab printer: open the Bambu Studio project. Its purging volumes start at 84 mm³, so recalculate them too.
- OrcaSlicer with another printer, and Creality Print, Elegoo Slicer, and the like: use STL, one file per color. A Bambu Studio project would replace the printer with a stand-in Bambu P1S.
- PrusaSlicer: open the PrusaSlicer project and set each extruder's filament to match. After the download, Export lists the color for each extruder. With an MMU3 or XL, drag the wipe tower clear of the model to where Export says. In Simple mode it asks to switch to Advanced mode for the concentric road tops: answer OK, since Cancel doesn't load the file.
- One extruder Prusa printers (an MK4, CORE One, or XL without the MMU3 or more tools, and the MINI): everything prints in one color. Add color changes at layer heights in PrusaSlicer's preview for more.
- Cura: use 3MF with colors. Each plate opens as one group on extruder 1. Ctrl-click a part to give it another extruder, but don't ungroup it, or the parts drop to the bed one by one.
- Any slicer with STL files: unzip them, import them all at once, and load them as one object with several parts. In Cura, select them all and use Merge Models.
Other options
- File name
- What the download is called. It starts as the place's name.
- Concentric tops on roads
- On by default, for Bambu Studio and PrusaSlicer projects. Roads get a concentric top pattern, so their top lines run along each road.
- Multi-plate export
- Splits a model too big for the bed. See Large models on several plates.
- Printer
- Under Size. It sets the bed size and the project's starting presets. Prusa printers are listed with and without the MMU3 or extra tools, since that decides whether there's a wipe tower.
After a download, Export repeats these next steps for the format, with any warnings, like a model taller than the printer builds. While a file is being made, Cancel stops it.
If settings changed since generating, the first press says Download anyway, so an old model isn't downloaded by mistake. Parts hidden in the 3D view are left out of the file.
For a flat SVG map for laser engraving, pen plotters, or print, use SVGmap, a separate app.
